storycenterAccording to the Center for Digital Storytelling website, nearly 80 countries worldwide have been introduced to Digital Storytelling.

On 27 June 2009, the Center for Digital Storytelling will join with newly formed MULTISTORIAS, Portuguese non-profit organization, in proposing the International Digital Storytelling Conference to be held at the Conference Center in the beautiful town of Óbidos, Portugal, some 80 km north of Lisbon.

The conference is open to the public. Digital Storytelling facilators, educators, academics, communications professionals, technologists, and enthusiasts are expected to attend from throughout Europe, with guests from the U.S., Australia and Africa expected to attend.

In 2008, the first Asian Digital Storytelling Congress was organised by the National Book Development Council of Singapore from 5 – 6 Sept 08, 9.00am to 5.30pm @ Possibility Room, National Library Building. The international meeting had professionals and digital media enthusiasts communicate and share new concepts in the art of digital storytelling. Discussion focused on the use of digital storytelling in education, community building, business, personal development and entertainment.

The conference included names like Denise Atchley, Leslie Rule, Tom Banaszewski, Helen Simonson, Professor Jeremy Williams; Associate Professor Themin Suwardy (Singapore Management University), Tan Boon Hui (Acting Deputy Director of Programmes of the National Museum of Singapore), and Joanne Teoh (Channel News Asia).

We hope to see Singapore and Asia represented in the list of countries for future conferences.
